Royal Prince's dam Piri Piri is by the now deceased Celle stallion Prince Thatch xx, a highly influential Thoroughbred stallion who produced many successful dressage horses. Prince Thatch stands #9 on the VhW's listing. Piccolino, by Prince Thatch was among the top ranked horses on the German Dressage team and represented this impressive stallion's ability to produce top international talent. Piccolino helped win the Team Gold for Germany at the 2003 European Dressage Championships and placed 6th individually at that world event. Piri Piri's dam is Winzerin by Wenzel I (Woermann-Matador-Don Carlos), 1980 Champion of Hannover and winner of his stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf in 1979. This very successful pedigree is an integral part of the foundation to Royal Prince's success today.
Her Dam EM Lambada is a beautiful Hanoverian mare imported from Germany. She is very rideable and is a stunning mover. At her mare inspection in Germany, she scored 8and 9's on gaits and 8 for rideability in the Mare Performance test. EM Lambada's sire is Lemon Park by Lemon XX who is a thoroughbred who stood at the Celle Stud until the age of 26. Lemon sired horses for dressage, show jumping and several world-class event horses, including the Sydney Olympics horse Little MacMuffin, and Literat who was German National Champion of young event horses. Lemon xx also sired Lemon Park and Lemon Tree, who was the Champion of the 1987 Stallion Licensing and winner in his Stallion Performance Test the next year. Lemon Park also includes some outstanding pedigrees from the D-Line. Part of this D-Line includes Dolman, standing from 1937-1953, sired the famous Duellant (1946-1965) who founded a big group of stallions, very good in conformation and movement, and with great dressage talent. His most influential son was Duft II. Duft II's son Darling (1975-1987) proved to be a good producer of dressage stallions. Darling's well known son Dynasty was. before his 1989 death, the best dressage horse in Canada. One of Darling's sons used in Germany was Damnatz. Another very respected sire of dressage horses in Germany is the Duft II son Dueerkheim in the State Stud since 1973.
On EM Lambada's dam's side is the famous stallion Senator, a remarkable stallion who gave his name to the line. Senator, son of the Trakehner stallion Semper Idem who came to Germany after World War II, in his first year of breeding, only produced seven colts, six of whom became stallions in the State Studs- five to Celle and one to Warendorf. His son Sender (1959-1978) had the biggest influence on the breed in recent times as a very good producer of jumping horses. Her dam's side also includes the A-line which today has changed to an E-line, with two main groups. One group goes back to the stallion Eindruck II, whose best known son is Einblick in his time a performance test winner and very good in dressage and jumping. Einblick has been used at stud since 1973. This group is considered mainly to be dressage horses, although Einblick himself was also very good in jumping. The second E-line goes back to the stallion Eisenherz (which is directly in EM Lambada's pedigree) used in breeding since 1972. This group has a bigger influence on the breed than the Eindruck group. The best son of Eisenherz is Eiger 1 who is a very good type and very prepotent. His offspring have both dressage and jumping abilities, and his best son so far, I believe, is the young stallion Espri, used only since 1985. Espri's first group of horses was very convincing.
